When i read the facts about the statue of Liberty i immediately added her in my bucket list. Not only because she is a woman but also because of what she stands for. Freedom. She’s around 135 years old and she is struck by lightning 600 times every year but she still stands proud and still not shaken.

This got me thinking, how many times have we faced obstacles in life and they made us change who we are. Life is full of shit, that’s not going to change. Self Concept, term used to refer to how someone thinks about, evaluates or perceives themselves. To be aware of oneself is to have a concept of oneself.

Self-image , Self worth and ideal-self. These are the 3 components of self concept.

SELF IMAGE

This is how you see yourself , not only in the mirror but in general. If i asked you to tell me about yourself , chances of you to tell me about your professional achievements and what you own are so high right?? But is that what you really are? We have made our definitions of ourselves be based by where we live, our religion, our tribe even how we look. We all have ideas about ourselves based on limitations someone else gave us. No babies are born thinking they are inferior. As they grow, they learn those ideas from the people around them.

Your self-image is not something that is based on reality; in fact, far from it. In actuality, your self-image is built upon your perception of reality and that is influenced by how you believe you’re being viewed by society and other people.

SELF WORTH/SELF ESTEEM

Self-esteem encapsulates the thoughts and feelings you experience at each moment. These thoughts and feelings have a direct impact on your results, behavior, and performance.Having a high degree of self-worth means feeling that you are worth many good things. You deserve happiness,love ,good health, Success and wealth despite all the difficulties you face, the disappointments you experience, or of people’s opinions. In short , You have the power in you on how you feel about yourself, about your life, and about your circumstances.

IDEAL SELF

This is basically what you’d like to be. We all have an image in our heads of who we want to be in the future.No one want’s to be see themselves as a loser on their 80th birthday right?Your ideal self should always be several steps ahead of you.Becoming everything you have ever wanted to be sounds like bliss. And yes you would be right. It would be as if all your dreams had suddenly come true. But that’s because you are not that person today, and it’s the journey towards becoming that person that will bring you fulfillment. Its not the destination that matters the most but rather the steps you take to get to that destination that make life fulfilling , enjoyable and fun. Moreover, it’s the process of learning, growth, and development along that journey that makes life truly worth living.Your growth and development in each role is the fuel that keeps pushing you forward through every decision you make and action you take. And as long as these ideal versions of you are somewhat out of reach, you will keep striving and pushing forward. Therefore this ideal version of you is what effectively fuels your motivation.

MY SELF LOVE JOURNEY ❤️ 💛 💙 💜♈

For so long i let people tell me what to do, when to do it and when i tried to disagree , they thought of me as stubborn. So i ended up making other people happy except yours truly. 😆 😆 😆. This was draining and i decided enough is enough .I chose myself . Selfish decision that am proud of everyday. Key , never compare yourself to anyone in the journey of self-worth recognition. You will only rob your self awareness and block the chances of seeing your full potential.Never doubt the process. Reassure yourself that your journey to self-worth will be the most rewarding experience of your life. Here are some of the few steps i used and i hope they will boost yours too.

  • Forgive yourself 🔄

Most important of them all , You have to forgive yourself for all your shortcomings. You human , we all make mistakes ,we can’t change what’s done but we can choose to learn from them. If you remain feeling ashamed and guilty , you will never have a healthy sense of self-worth

  • Come up with a skill 🏋🏾

Everyone has a purpose on this planet and we all have something good to offer.Think of something you can do ,either a talent or a skill that will not only help you grow but also one that you actually enjoy

  • Take Risks

The only reason you haven’t done something great for yourself is that you are still wondering whether or not you should do it. Never be afraid to take risks to become a better version of yourself. Stop doubting your abilities and go.

If you don’t succeed on your initial try, you would only have learned how not to fail next time. Get up and do great things.

  • Self Love ❤️

Accept yourself for who you are. If you have negative qualities, work on becoming a better person. Never make the mistake of living in denial. You would only be delaying your freedom.

  • Surround yourself with the right people

Surround yourself with the change you want to see. Be with people who have overcome the doubts they had about themselves and, like you, are also on a journey to recognizing self-worth.

You going to loose your friends on the journey , No Cap.Finding yourself may sound like an inherently self-centered goal, but it is actually an unselfish process that is at the root of everything we do in life.Do not hesitate to keep a distance from anyone who does not support your growth. Create a mini statue of Liberty in yourself and life will be better . I Promise 👊🏼.
